Developer Trevor Mills submitted the plans to the council for the houses, which are mid-19th century homes, at numbers 72 and 74 Church Street, Staines, and has applied for conservation area consent to carry out the work.

A developer has applied to Spelthorne Council for planning permission to demolish the rear section of a pair of semi-detached houses, and build a two more semi-detached homes and two garages.

Developer Trevor Mills submitted the plans to the council for the houses, which are mid-19th century homes, at numbers 72 and 74 Church Street, Staines, and has applied for conservation area consent to carry out the work.

Staines Town Society has objected to the proposal, together with 16 petition-style letters from householders in adjoining The Maltings and Church Street.

Reasons for the objections include concerns that too much of the building's character is being sacrificed, that the proposed roofline would be totally changed from the hipped slate roof which householders prefer, that there would be a loss of existing boundary walls and that The Maltings would be used for access during construction and that there is a lack of design and architectural detail in the plans.

Officers at Spelthorne council have recommended the plans for approval by the planning committee when it meets on Wednesday October 15 at the council offices in Knowle Green, Staines.

We'd like to hear from you.

Trevor mills is not a property developer he is merely looking for somewhere to live and retire peacefully. The buildings, which i have personally been in myself are falling apart and are not worthy of being kept as keepsakes for the small few who see them as important. You would and could not live in them in the condition they are in. I Think its about time Trevor Mills who served the local community as a fireman for 25 years deserved to be left alone so he can retire and enjoy life. Thats the least anybody owes him for the loyal service he gave you and your families.
