Domestic abuse awareness to balloon

Posted by Hannah Webster on Oct 21, 08 03:01 PM in Local Authority

More than 150 balloons were released in Staines High Street on Monday October 20 to mark the beginning of Domestic Abuse Awareness Week.

Each balloon represented one person who has contacted North Surrey's Outreach Service - which provides help for people living in Spelthorne, Elmbridge and Epsom and Ewell - in the past year.

Deputy leader of Spelthorne Cllr Caroline Spencer, conservative for Ashford East, released the balloons at 10am.

Stickers and pocket-sized cards are being placed in toilets and workplaces across Spelthorne this week to raise awareness of domestic abuse.

Outreach workers are available Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 4.30pm and anyone needing help can leave a message on the answer phone for someone to return the call.

The Outreach Service number is 01932 260690.

We'd like to hear from you.
