Cyclist films his journeys... and shames bad drivers

Posted by Steve Bax on Mar 9, 09 10:46 AM in Local People

They witness crashes, dangerous driving and are subjected to endless abuse but one cyclist is getting his own back by shaming his tormentors on video-sharing website YouTube.

Known only as Andyb000, the video blogger has posted 49 films documenting his journeys around Chertsey, Egham, Staines, Stanwell, Sunbury, Egham and Woking.

His footage includes a crash on an icy roundabout, a truck dodging closed barriers on a level crossing, countless near misses and even a small child shoplifting in Staines.

More than 80,000 viewers have visited the website to see Andy's clips, which he films on a tiny camera attached to his helmet.

Writing on the site, he said: "Random things from the helmetcam. Maybe see some things differently from my point of view. A mixture of good things and bad things, the bad happen much less often but are more interesting to watch.

"I like to think the camera has a protective effect as bad things happen much less when I am filming."

We'd like to hear from you.

Nice job Darren! I especially liked the ET homage.

Anyone got an experience of dangerous driving in Spelthorne they want to share?

No one needs a rat fink like this fool. Filming people without their consent is ILLEGAL. Turning the footage into the Police is then extremely hypocritical. I am a local and if I find you filming me then bad driving will be the least of your worries. The Police don't want to watch your rubbish videos so please stop wasting their time. They are of poor quality and inadmissible. People like this should be reprimanded, not applauded. Maybe you live in a fantasyland where everyone follows the rules to the letter but the rest of us in the real world have to deal with each others antics, accepting them with good grace. If you are scared of getting hurt I suggest you take the bus. Bet you don't wait at the reds, either.
