Charity looking for people to come forward
A Staines based charity are urging people to come forward so they can give away part of £2500 to people in need.
Voulunteers from MidasPlus raised £2500 on Saturday May 9 from rugby fans watching the semi final of the Guiness Premiership in Twickenham, and now want local people to come forward and nominate people for the money.
The charity, which provides financial support for needy people and organisations in the area, has raised more than £100,000 since its infancy 10 years ago.
Mike Wylie, a trustee of the charity, said: "With these extra funds we now need people to tell us about a local person, family, group or organisation that needs help. Any worthy causes however large or small will be considered as long as they are in the area."
It was a total of 10 volunteers along with Mike and wife Felicity who took buckets to the game between Harlequins and London Irish and raised the money from supporter's loose change.
Felicity said: "The crowd were great, everybody was very friendly, and lots of people were asking what MidasPlus do and putting coins in the bucket."
Examples of the charity's previous plights were buying a wheelchair for an 11-year-old with mental disabilities, installing a phone line for a couple in ill health, and helping others who cannot get help from the local authority.
If you know of anyone who fits the criteria, please call Mike on 01784 440300 or email info@midasplus.org.uk.
We'd like to hear from you. Send your stories, pics and videos
