Tickets have gone on sale for the next play performed by the Wraysbury Players.

'Where there's a will' is a comedy thriller directed by Carol Howard which will be performed from Thursday October 15 to Saturday 17 in Wraysbury Village Hall, in The Green.

Two road shows are being held in October to give advice on Spelthorne Council's extended bin service.

The current alternate weekly service for garden waste is being extended to 4,000 more homes in the borough, to add to the current 4,000 already signed up.

The service will operate for 10 months of the year between February and November.

The road shows will take place on Saturday October 3 in the Elmseleigh Centre and Wednesday October 7 in Staines High Street.

A rescue boat was named after a rower who gave his life to save another at Staines Boat Club on Sunday September 20.

Member and ex-club captain Craig Twaddle suggested the idea of naming the rescue catamaran after Alan Choules, who died on Sunday April 25 in 1971 following a break up of a rowing boat at Penton Hook Weir.

More than £500 was raised for local charities on Thursday September 17 at a quiz evening held in Staines.

Staines Rotary Club held the charity night in Staines Community Centre to raise money for a number of charities, including Voluntary Action in Staines.

A hackney carriage driver has failed in his appeal against Spelthorne Council's decision to suspend his licence and has been fined over £4,000.

On Thursday September 17 at Staines Magistrates Court, Abdul Matin Ghaznawi was ordered to pay costs of £4449.51 and surrender his licence for not being a fit and proper person to hold one.

Residents have aired mixed reactions to the Environment Agency's plans to build flood defences of the River Thames.

The EA launched a public consultation on Monday September 21where they state they hope to spend a £300million government grant on creating three river diversion channels, which aims to reduce the flood risk to 12,000 homes in Spelthorne, Elmbridge, and Runnymede.

Wrestler injures himself

A young wrestler said he feels lucky to be alive after almost breaking his neck during his first home town fight on Friday September 18.

Billy Reynolds, 24, of Pooley Green Road, Egham, nearly broke his neck after landing on his head during an LDN wrestling show at Egham Leisure Centre.

A STRIKING resemblance between one baby boy and Joshua Deller the brave 14-month-old who is battling cancer, has prompted his parents to raise money for the cause.

Jeff, and Lynsey, Batten have taken it upon themselves to fund-raise for Joshua Deller after Mrs Batten, 32, saw a picture of Joshua in a hairdressers in West Byfleet and was struck with how similar he looked to her own son Thomas who is one year old.

Detectives are still appealing for witnesses for a smash and grab incident in Staines after three motobikes believed to have been used were found in Thorpe.

The incident happened at jewellery store Swag in Staines High Street on Monday August 31 at 11am, where five people on three mopeds used sledgehammers to steel £50,000 worth of jewellery, including 80 rings, from the shop window.

A wrestler who has fought in over 200 fights is battling it out in his hometown on Friday September 18 for the first time ever.
