Celebrities attend lunch bash
Around £16,000 has been raised by a Spelthorne councillor in memory of a teenager who died this year.
Riverside and Laleham councillor Isobel Napper held the event at the Great Fosters Hotel on Monday October 12 in Egham, in memory of 17-year-old Matthew Lyne, of Staines, who died in March of Leukaemia.
The lunch saw celebrities including Max Clifford and comedian Bobby Davro turn up, along with fitness expert Diane Moran, and all proceeds will go to Leukaemia Research, and the Breast Unit at Ashford and St Peter's Hospital.
The lunch also saw the British Airways captain Mike Bannister attend, who was responsible for flying the last Concorde flight into Heathrow in 2003.
Cllr Napper said: "I was overwhelmed by the huge generosity of people who offered their time, help, and products, which made this event a truly unforgettable one."
The event saw a raffle, and auction, along with a buffet lunch.
It is thought that after costs the event would have raised £11,000 for the charities.
