BBC star visits Staines

Double Olympic rowing champion James Cracknell helped a Staines optician's celebrate 10 years of trading recently.

The BBC star was invited to Specsavers in Two Rivers Shopping Centre to cut a birthday cake and have his eyes tested.

The event occurred on Friday October 23, which saw staff welcome him in the store.

Mr Cracknell said; "Everybody at the store seemed to smile a lot, and the whole eye test experience was actually good fun, nowhere near as bad as the dentist.

"From a sporting perspective its pretty obvious that any athlete not seeing properly stands at a disadvantage so any budding sports enthusiasts should have their vision checked every couple of years."

Russ Dawkins, director at the Staines store, said: 'We are really pleased James came down to mark the occasion, and to help raise the importance of regular eye tests."

We'd like to hear from you.
