More than 200 children and teachers dressed up as their favourite book characters for a Staines school's annual celebration last week.

Our Lady of the Rosary, in Park Avenue held their book week from Monday November 23 to Friday 27, and on Wednesday 25 all 239 kids dressed up.

The teachers donned costumes as well, and some of the outfits included Harry Potter, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, Disney's Aladdin, Tinkerbell, and Mr Men characters.

Teaching assistant Trudy Ahmed said: "One of the teachers dressed up as Pingu, and one of the children dressed up as the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz by covering himself in foil."

The school put on a range of activities for the whole week in place of normal lessons, which included making collages on the theme of books, mixing classes, and being told stories by different teachers.

Ms Ahmed said: "We do it every year and it is really enjoyable for the children. We also held a competition for the best dressed pupil in each class, and they won book vouchers."

We'd like to hear from you.
