A Staines shopping centre has raised nearly £6,000 for charity over the winter.

Elmseliegh Shopping Centre has been hosting a gift wrapping service with Barclays, and have raised £5,660 for charities including Shooting Star Children's Hospics, the RSPCA, the Mayor of Spelthorne's charities and Staines shopmobility.

Peter Miles, centre manager at Elmsleigh, said: "I'm thrilled the scheme raised such an amazing amount of money for the charities. It's great that we could offer our shoppers a valuable service while helping some fantastic causes to continue the great work they do."

The centre also gave two visitors a £250 shopping spree after they put their name into a hat.

George Osborne, of Slough, decided to spend his at Marks & Spencer.
