Staines allotment site targeted by burglars

Allotment holders are being targeted by thefts of equipment in Staines, and the police are calling for incidents to be reported.

Holders at the site in Commercial Road, Staines, have complained of minor thefts of vegetables and garden equipment, and break-ins to sheds, but according to the police, there have only been two incidents reported in the past two months.

Between January 6-13 a shed was forcefully broken into by would-be burglars, but nothing was taken, so the police are calling for holders to report crimes, no matter how minor, to them.

A spokeswoman for Surrey Police said: "There has actually been only reported incident between those dates, but PSCO Deborah Tippetts seems to think there are other similar incidents, however they seem not to have been reported so we are urging people to report them.

"PCSO Tippetts is in the process of arranging a meeting with the allotment holders so she can give them crime prevention advice."
